National dance museum in Trivandrum: first in the country            

     India’s first national Dance Museum is going to disclose to our entire nation. National dance museum having international standards will be dedicated to the nation on this October 2nd at Nadanagramam in Trivandrum. The museum extends 42000square feet. Research centre with digitalized library, 5D effect DTS theatre, wax sculpture gallery of act forms and monuments are the major specialities of the museum. The institute is owned by the Department of Culture, Government of Kerala. The Nadana Gramam was instituted in the name of a great artist Guru Gopinath who has shown to the world that the dance forms such as Kathakali can be enacted on the stage with the stories from the day-to-day life, apart from the stories from Hindu Mythology.

     The Guru Gopinath Natanagramam has been established as a centre for learning, training and research in various Indian Dance forms.

The institution carries on the attempts initiated by the Guru to popularise the dance forms of India and to find fresh talents. 

     Pioneering the training and development of the Kerala Natanam style of Dancing, promotion of all Indian classical and folk dance forms and setting up of audio visual library and research centre, organising dance festivals are the other aims of the society.

     The institution stated that they conducted classes on, other forms of dances like ottanthullal, Bharathanatyam, and Mohiniyattam, Keralanatanam and music instrumental classes like Veena, violin, Mridangam, Tabala, Keyboard and classical music (vocal).

     The Central Government has sanctioned Rs6 crore for setting National Dance Museum at the Guru Gopinath Natanagramam. The museum will be a first of its kind in the country.
