As there is a squabble going on in India’s opportunistic politics arena, heeding to these insights provided on teachings and acts of Sree Narayana Guru by eminent scholar and thinker, Sri. M.K Sanu, will help in eradicating confusion from common man’s mind, who might be perplexed by all that is going on.

Prof.M.K Sanu elucidates the point that Sree Narayna Guru did not consider himself as a custodian of a single caste’s interests but as a universal being, who treated all divisions and sections alike by bringing forth an epistle published in ‘Prabhudha Keralam’ daily in 1916, on his own initiative. In it, it was written, “It has been some years since I eschewed caste differentiation. However, I came to know that

Humaneness is the caste of human beings

some special races are acting by considering me to be of their sect and due to that a  perception antithetical to reality has come into being.

I do not belong to a special caste or religion. Especially it is be to  be noted that I have admitted only those kind from my congregation into the delegation in Aluva Adwaitha Ashramam, so as to become my successor and it has been prescribed that admission will be as per that in future , also. This fact has been published for public knowledge.”  Prof.M.K Sanu reminds that this must not be construed as a change that occurred in his thinking, apropos Sree Narayana Guru. The message that was declared at Aruvippuram, in 1888, contains this idea itself, in essence. That famous message holds the call to transform the world into a model place sans caste differentiation and religious hatred.  However, he had to witness the eventuality that his followers did not grow as per the ideal he envisaged. He had to witness that the tendency to view him only as ‘one of their caste’ and distance themselves from other castes, was growing in his community.

Prof.M.K Sanu remembers that outside Ezhava community, members of other communities, too, used to adore him. ’Daivadasakam’ used to be recited in several Nair houses, also, during dusk.  The ones I clearly remember are P.G Purushothaman Pillai’s and Vetoor Raman Nair’s houses.  I had heard them speak with reverence about dusk prayer occurring in this way, in many other houses.

Guru also did not forget to repeatedly make it clear that planned effort must be continued for cultural uplift and economic prosperity. It was Guru, who first assigned to conduct ‘Kathaprasangam’ (Musical story-telling) based on

poems like ‘Chandala Bhikshuki’ and ‘Duravastha’.Guru had envisaged that a society, liberated of caste animosity and religious hatred will be evolved here, through that. Sanu mash also points out that in his important poem ‘Athmopadesha shatakam’, Guru did not forget to categorically declare that ‘essence of several religions is same’. Guru convened an All Religion Meet in Aluva Adwaitha Ashram in 1924. Its original message was:

                          ‘Not to argue and win
But to know and make know.

The representatives – scholarly representatives of all religions took part in that great meeting. Guru specially reminded on that occasion that peace will prevail among humans only if the dialogue between separate religions was continued recurrently. He reminds that Sree Narayana Guru’s individual aura is most complex and deep. The celestial light of divinity and practical instructions are integral parts of that complexity. Presently, such a circumstance that results in such an unearthly and adorable personality being misunderstood, due to the delinquent tendency of followers, has emerged. Prof.M.K Sanu added that the essential duty of those, who believe in “Gurudeva Dharma”, is to get immersed in the activities to purge society.
