Business world has been global - Kanchan  Gogate

B-school students have to realize the importance of social responsibility since profit alone should not be their sole purpose. With global industry elevating its benchmark for competent future managers, academicians feel  b – schools must be the co-creators of knowledge and catalysts in innovation.

As the dynamics of global business environment are changing rapidly, industry is looking forward to the competent future leaders.  Evolution is going to be the  game-changer in management education.  Business academics  world  wide  witnessing a paradigm shift as it has been continuously re-defining its pedagogy.

Closing the boundaries of various disciplines is another significant feature of business education. The world require business schools to play a stronger role in helping to bring about solutions to problems.  The schools are expected to be a partner to the government and society so as to tackle world issuesStudents need to be taught how to create  value for themselves.  English literature scholar  Dr. Muktaja Mathkari said, all soft skills should be integrated into management education.

Not to teach students on what to think.  Instead, teach them how to think.

                                                                                                                                - Shashi Tharoor

Those who start their career by 2030 will be  looking for jobs that are non-existent today.  Said Sri Shashi Tharoor.  We cannot always imagine what is possible tomorrow.  The speed of change has become so bewilderingly rapid that many of the opportunities  existing  today will be  opportunities that we cannot consider the future.

That is why whenever I get a chance to speak with teachers, I constantly tell them not to teach students on what to think.  Instead, teach them how to think.  One of the greatest skills needed in the 21st Century is to think out of the box.  The box is conventional wisdom which restricts one to do things as it has always been done.  Teachers also need to pay attention to handling the psychological domain of the students.  Smaller class rooms and more divisions can help a lot in ensuring that teachers can focus individually on students.

Organizations without adventure lack soul -  Rituparna Chakraborty

Academicians, social thinkers and business speakers are spending a  lot of time in predicting the future.  But is it really possible to do so in this overwhelmingly changing environment? I want to share a simple hypothesis of creating a resilient organization, which can acclimatise

to the  ever changing business environment.

The first is accountability.  Operational effectiveness and good wll is not strategy.  Companies have focussed so much on efficiency, ease and effectiveness that it has left a very complex organisational structure with poles and silos.  In this process they have lost sight of accountability.  Developing a  culture where accountability is an uncompromised ingredient is necessary.

The second is autonomy.  Daniel Pink (An American author) says, “Control leads to compliance, autonomy leads to  engagement.”  The dance between control and autonomy is never easy.  However, it is important to have faith in letting employees accomplish corporative objectives by maximising their free reign of knowledge, skills, creativity and intuition under a broad rubric of clearly defined goals and ethics.

Third- and I keep it right at the centre of this frame work  is adventure.  Organizations without adventure lack soul, and identity. The fatality rate of organizations is phenomenal, and whether you are a one-year-old startup or a 50 year-old institution, the spirit of adventure should be active.

Fourth - The most buzzing word of our time is automation.  We are intimidated by automation  as a job killer.  But essentially it will create different kind of jobs that will take people away from repetitive to more productive work.

The final element is adaptability.  A growth mind-set over a fixed one is at the heart of being an adaptable organization.

Your value isn’t based on your employer, it is based on what you stand for                                                                                                                                        -Mahalakshmi

The core strategy behind any company that truly dwarfs the competition and creates massive customer loyalty is to anticipate and meet customers needs in a way that no one else can .  There are the organizations that create  raving fans of their products/service.  If you aspire to career growth, you cannot be complacent.  And first step to staying alert and agile is staying at tuned to the customer you serve.  By investing in  staying  close to them and expanding the boundaries of what you understand,  you become more valuable to your team, customers and  company in business, we talk a lot about finding a target customer segment and a product or service that addresses the demand space for that target group.  Likewise, success in your role within the organiszation comes from sharply defining your  priority to your customer pool and prioritizing your agenda and offering.

Your value isn’t based on who your employer is or what is your job title.  It is based on what you stand for and what you are able to bring to the table.  This often starts with a strong understanding of what makes your heart sing.
