Low profile new year celebrations, 1^st time because of Covid pandemic

India

India celebrated the new year in a very precautious manner, metro cities imposed night curfews to avoid crowding which can lead to a spike in coronavirus infections. 

Indian society approached this celebration in a passive and artistic style. Artists wearing face masks in the cities, tram  Passengers listen to artists playing the violin outside in Kolkata.  In many cities,  social, health workers. organized street dramas.

America.

New York's Times Square is famous for its midnight countdown to a new year, and even the pandemic could not stop locals from experiencing the once in a year event. Local police condoned the streets with barriers before the New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square, New York on December 31, 2020. Usually, the Times Square is packed with locals and tourists who flock to the famous landmark to participate in the countdown for welcoming of the new year. However, this time, the crowd grew thinner and people were placed far away from each other.

Australia

In the Sydney Opera House in Australia, fireworks sparkle the sky, but the harbour beneath was empty as a ghost town.  Before the firework display begins at 9 pm, Sydney Harbour is the setting for a host of activities and pre-show entertainment. a traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander smoking ceremony, which uses eucalyptus smoke to cleanse the harbour of negative spirits. Many roads around the city will be closed during the event, so the best way to travel to and from the city centre is via bus, train, ferry or light rail.

France

The sale of alcohol banned across several departments in France in anticipation of New Year’s. Eve parties, as it is thought that many could be planning to break the rules and celebrate at home. The French are still living under tight restrictions, as cases of Covid-19 continue to rise. Yet after the year, we’ve all had, seeing an end to 2020 calls for a celebration. But be careful: the government is putting 100,000 police on the streets tonight to make sure safety. Professional musicians are dressed in black perform on the Place of Freedom in Bayonne, southwestern.

North Korea

To mark the New Year, crowds thronged the main square in the North Korean capital Pyongyang to celebrate new year amid concert and fireworks, state media reported.  The performers sang and danced on a stage decorated with a big, colourful "2021" sign without wearing masks. People witnessing the event wore masks but did not maintain social distancing as they displayed glowing lights and balloons in Kim II Sung Square.

Greece

Greece started the new year with fireworks over the Parthenon at the top of the Acropolis. It is also plagued by the coronavirus crisis.  Compared to previous years, New Years’s Eve celebrations took place very intently in the metropolis. Joyful crowds of celebrating people, especially tourists replaced the empty streets and squares.  After nine O’clock in the evening, the centre was practically depopulated and so it remained even after midnight.

Czech Republic

The Czechia has probably had the strangest celebrations of the arrival of the new year in modern history. Due to a number of restrictions due to the pandemic this time the Czechs had to do without spectacular fireworks and crowd merriment in the streets. But elsewhere people celebrated on a large scale. The celebrations are marked by anti-epidemic measures, curfew applies from 21:00 to 05:00    The Czech capital experienced perhaps the quietest New Year’s Eve in modern history.  Even the centre of the celebrations, Wenceslas Square was almost deserted. Compliance with the measures is checked in the streets by police officers, hundreds of patrols go into the field.

China

In the Chinese city of Wuhan, where the pandemic originated a year ago, thousands gathered at landmarks across the city to count down to 2021. In his new years Eve address, president x1 Jinping touted his government's success in controlling covid-19

Nations like  Turkey, Tanzania, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Russia Qatar, Madagascar, Kuwait, Kenya, Iraq, Ethiopia and Belarus, the new year celebration was in low pitch.
